Movin on Up

After almost a month of searching, my roommate and I signed the lease on a new apartment. Rents in NYC are much lower than usual right now, so we were able to find a great place in our price range. We are still on the Upper East Side, in an area called Yorkville. Tour new building is on a nice side street with lots of trees and pre-war brownstones. The apartment is so cute, with a (faux) fireplace, lots of windows, and a great eat-in kitchen. I cannot wait to move in on October 1st. Below are a few photos of the apartment before I work my magic.

Bachelorette Weekend!

My best friend is getting married so we had to have a weekend long bachelorette party to celebrate. Friday night we stayed in the city, played games and had a dance party. Saturday night we went to Atlantic City and had a great time. Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

Somehow, we all ended up with side ponytails.

It was a great weekend but I was in need of a very long nap.

A Day at the Market

Today was a beautiful day in the city. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and the temperature was above 50 degrees. My roomate and I decided to take advantage of the amazing weather and head down to the green market in Union Square.

The green market has all kinds of local vendors. Fruit, veggies, plants, wine, cheese...you name it, they got it.

St. Patty's Day

St. Patrick's Day in NYC is a big deal. Every year there is a parade that goes up Fifth Avenue. Luckily, my office is only a couple of blocks from 5th so I was able to run out during lunch and catch part of the parade. My favorite part is definitely the bag pipers.

Here I am at the parade with my green st. patty's day bag.

I also enjoy the hundreds and hundreds of firemen who walk in the parade every year.

Up on the Roof

Access to the roof was one of the main reasons my roommate and I decided to rent our apartment. This is the view of the city from my roof. I love it up here, especially in the summer.
Another view from my roof. You are looking at the East River and the newly renamed, Robert F. Kennedy Bridge.

Welcome and come again...

Hello Everyone!!

Since I have not been consistent with calling my wonderful family and friends, I have decided to start a blog to keep everyone updated on what is going on in my life.

To get everyone up to speed, I work for a prestigious foreign policy organization in the HR department. I am the Human Resources Coordinator and I run the internship program. That basically means that I interview and hire the interns as well as plan all the intern events.

I live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan with a lovely roommate (also a Texan) in a cute 2 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment. We can actually use the roof and have a nice view of the East River. (I have included a few pictures)

I am having such a fun time exploring the city and experiencing everything it has to offer. I plan to put up new posts every few days so please check back to see what is new with me.

Love you and miss you!!!
